Hazardous Waste Site Characterization & Remediation
Panacea staff members use their skills and experience to develop cost-effective approaches for assessing the environmental conditions of retail, commercial, industrial, and Superfund sites. Significant environmental health risks can be identified and documented in conjunction with hazardous wastes on land, in soil, or in groundwater. Panacea personnel have performed site-specific risk assessments to quantify risk to humans and the environment. The risk assessments include hazard identification (site and chemical conditions), exposure assessment (route of entry), chemical fate and transport modeling, toxicity assessment (dose-response relationships), and risk characterization. Results of a risk assessment can be used to evaluate the need for remedial action at the site or the need to evaluate other alternatives. The results can also be used to select the most cost-effective remedial action.
Panacea personnel have also designed and implemented remediation plans and systems to mitigate environmental problems at various types of sites. Hazardous waste site characterization and remediation can involve a number of critical elements, including:
Soil boring installation, and monitoring well design, installation, and development:
- Air, soil, soil gas, surface water, groundwater sampling and analysis
- Native water quality, agricultural infiltration and runoff, sea water intrusion, and Leaking underground storage tank (UST) investigations
- Borehole geophysical surveys
- Aquifer testing
- Data analysis and management
- Air, soil, and groundwater modeling (fate and transport)
- Risk assessment with risk-based corrective action (RBCA)
- Remedial design, engineering, implementation, cost estimate
Panacea understands the underlying objectives of the regulatory policies and programs, environmental statutes, and regulations. Our experience obtained from various Superfund and Brownfields sites enables us to anticipate the needs of our clients regarding scheduling, approach, and cost. Through our work over past years, Panacea has developed an outstanding reputation with regulatory agencies and our credibility is critical to successful negotiation of risk-based remediation work.
