San Bernardino, CA
Performed a comprehensive hazardous material survey (asbestos, lead and other hazardous materials) prior to the demolition of 40 single family dwellings in preparation for the construction of the new elementary school. In addition, a Preliminary Endangerment Assessment (PEA) was conducted at the site after the demolition of the buildings. The PEA was required by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and provides the basic information for determining if there had been a release of a hazardous substance that presents a risk to human health or the environment prior to the construction of the school. The site was assessed for lead, organochlorine pesticides (OCP) and polychlorinated biphenyls. A subsequent Removal Action Work Plan (RAW) was generated and approved by the DTSC to remediate the impacted soils.
