Vernon, CA

Performed a volatile organic compounds (VOC) exposure assessment of employees working in a healthcare manufacturing facility located in Vernon, CA. The assessment was conducted to evaluate potential exposure risk of VOCs associated with the on-site fabrication of signs to be installed at facilities throughout Southern California. 3M Passive Monitoring Badges were utilized for the detection of VOCs known to be contained in products used in the daily operations. The following compounds were sampled: Acetone, 2-Butoxyethanol, Butoxy ethyl Acetate, N-Butyl Acetate, Diacetone Alcohol, Ethyl Acrylate, Ethyl Benzene, Heptane, Isophorone, Methylene Chloride, Methyl Methacrylate and Toluene.  The results of the survey indicated existing work practices and engineering controls were effective in limiting employee exposure to VOCs associated with the fabrication of signs.
