Conducted a noise exposure survey to evaluate employee noise exposures experienced during unloading of ethanol at a storage and distribution terminal and to determine compliance with applicable Federal, State regulations and industry guidelines.   Five employees were monitored for noise exposure during their work shift.  A report was prepared and provided with the following recommendations:

  • Develop an effective Hearing Conservation Plan,
  • Conduct employee monitoring whenever there is a change in production, process, equipment or controls that may increase employee noise exposures above the Cal/OSHA Action Level,
  • Notify employees of the results,
  • Maintain an audiometric testing program,
  • Continue to provide hearing protection and training,
  • Maintain a file with an accurate record of all employee exposure measurements and audiometric tests, and
  • Verify peak noise levels with a sound level meter equipped with a peak detector.
