Industrial Hygiene: Noise Exposure Survey, Los Angeles

Conducted a noise exposure assessment at an industrial metals fabrication facility to evaluate employee noise exposures experienced during annealing line, rolling mill, slitting line, tension leveler, packaging, water treatment, and laboratory operations and to determine compliance with applicable Federal, State regulations and industry guidelines. Seven (7) employees were monitored for noise exposure during their work shift. Based on the results of the assessment, none of the employees were exposed above the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) and Federal OSHA criterion or above the noise peak level. Two (2) of the employees had noise exposure levels that exceeded the Cal/OSHA and OSHA Action Level requiring the implementation of an effective Hearing Conservation Program and four (4) of the employees had noise exposure levels that exceeded the ACGIH TLV and NIOSH REL.
